Vets' Wednesday runs list

Vets’ Xmas lunch on 11th December at Woodside Golf Club — see note below re. booking and payment by 20th November.

Any veteran, no matter how young, can join these. There is no formal ride as such, just a meeting point for lunch and a chat.  People ride solo, or in small groups, from all over the area surrounding Manchester. Arrival time at the lunch spot is 12.00 to 12.30 (ish).

South Manchester Vets ride as a group, and we meet at the Konak Cafe, 8 Grove Street, Wilmslow, most Wednesday mornings between 9.30 and 9.45.

We usually depart between 10.00 and 10.15 and ride from 40 to 60 miles, depending on the weather, time of year, and published lunchtime meeting place. Note that we do not always ride to the meeting places listed below, depending on the numbers riding and the location. When known in advance, alternative destinations will be shown.

If you want to join one of these rides it is worth checking with our secretary, Harry Burton, whether we intend to ride on a particular day. Reasons for not riding include absence of several riders (e.g. on a tour elsewhere), bad weather etc. However, unless the weather is particularly bad, you can usually just turn up in Wilmslow, as there will almost always be someone else there!

Sharon adds: Most will note the absence of Spinney Caravans and may by now be aware of the current situation that it maybe that the café will be no more (though it is still open at present). With Grasslands shut over the winter we are struggling for a venue in the Goostrey area that can cope with around 20 riders turning up over lunch. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Malcolm has said this is the last year he will organise the Christmas party. As it is mostly a DIY affair most of the work is in booking the hall, we can all pitch in to help make tea/coffee. Just as long as someone brings it along.

The lunch venues are coordinated for the whole of the Manchester and nearby regions by Sharon Clifford
